(Northbrook, Ill., July 27, 2005) –   The Ed Rudolph Northbrook Velodrome had another all time high with over seventy participants who competed in last week’s races.


 The featured event, the Ed Rudolph Championship Junior Race presented by XXX Racing-AthletiCo Junior Development Program brought out junior cycling track star Allyson Brunner (Kenosha Velosport) who rolled away with a number of top honors.

Another winner last week was Chicago’s Yojimbo’s Garage who covered the cost for all junior racers entry fee.

In addition, the race sponsor was represented by several of their own junior development program members who also competed and included one of the scholarship recipients.   Nicole Kemerer, XXX Racing-AthletiCo junior development program coordinator; stated that “Aaron Harrison is the recipient of a XXX Racing-AthletiCo scholarship offering coaching services,  racing apparel and financial support that paid for his entire season of racing at Ed Rudolph Northbrook Velodrome.”

On the same evening, the velodrome hosted the “David Young Night” and accepted donations for his prosthetics and rehabilitation.  David is a U23 cyclist and track rider from Kenosha, WI, who lost his leg in an accident last month.    Also present was Jonas Carney, the 2004 USPRO National Criterium Champion and Robbie Ventura, formerly of the U.S. Postal Service Pro Cycling were on hand to talk to track enthusiasts and to support the fund raising efforts.

Tomorrow, in addition to other scheduled races the velodrome will host a feature race for Master’s 40 and over.

On-site registration for Thursday night events will take place from 5:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.  Riders are advised that they must be registered prior to warming up on the track.

Zipp, the official wheel of Thursday night racing will again be there.  Racers will have the opportunity to win a new Zipp 900 disk wheel by purchasing a raffle ticket ($5 each).  Participants may enter as often as they like increasing their chances of winning.

The Northbrook Cycling Committee continues to have available for sale the newly designed t-shirt.  Riders may purchase the t-shirts for $15.  The shirts are available in medium, large, and extra large.

About XXX-Racing AthletiCo:  The team was founded in 1999 by a group of professional couriers who wanted to extend their cycling experienced to organized racing.  Members compete in the North Central region of the United States in road, track, cyclocross and mountain bike races.  XXX-Racing AthletiCo has a women and junior development team.  The junior women development team produced a national champion and a silver medal at the 2003 junior world championships.
